Women's Crossroads Vest - Size + Materials Info

Suggested Fabrics

Exterior: I like to use vintage woolen blankets, but you can use any warm fabric such as wool, wool blends, corduroy, denim, pre-quilted cottons, or velvet. Fleece and soft shell are also suitable fabrics. You could also use quilting cottons for a spring weight vest or quilt an extra layer in between the exterior and lining fabric for extra warmth.  Sherpa and lightweight suede make for a stunning vest.

Lining: Traditionally you would use a slippery fabric for lining; however, cotton, linen and flannel work well too. If using a lightweight exterior fabric, you could use pre-quilted polyester lining to provide extra warmth.

Fabric Considerations
The optional pockets add considerably more thickness to the seams in those areas, so take this into consideration when choosing fabric  You may wish to add “secret” pocket on the inside using lining fabric if needed.

The optional flutter sleeve, if made from a particularly thick fabric such as a blanket, can be challenging to turn out through the shoulders during construction.  You may wish to use lining for both sides of the sleeve.

Other Supplies & Notions

  • Spool of coordinating thread
  • 3 Buttons or 4 sets of snaps
  • Small scraps of iron-on interfacing to reinforce area where button holes or snaps are placed
  • Regular sewing supplies
  • If using a heavyweight fabric, you might benefit from using a walking foot.

Fabric Requirements Chart

The Crossroads Vest requires 10” (25cm) MORE than the Women’s Pathfinder Vest fabric requirements listed in the chart below, in all sizes, for both the exterior and the lining fabrics.

You may need more if matching plaids/checks or if you have a directional fabric.

 1)  Measure your upper bust, full bust, waist and hip.

2)  Choose your size by your upper bust/full bust and then blend sizes to your waist/hip measurements if necessary.

This pattern is designed to be as beginner-friendly as possible. You should be able to get a great fit without advanced tailoring skills.

The overlap at the front of the vest is purposefully designed so that the buttons can be placed on the finished vest for a custom fit without the need for you to adjust the pattern pieces.

Our new split sizing accommodates as many body shapes as possible.  Our “Curvy Sizes” (j-n in the chart below) are drafted for a fuller bust.
