Introducing the Meadow Skirt

We're so excited to announce our new Meadow Skirt for adults and children!

Here at Twig + Tale, we love to design patterns for maximum versatility, and we are so pleased that the Meadow Skirt does just that.  Packed with options for different styles and lengths, this pattern can create a wonderful variety of different looks.

The Meadow has instantly become our go-to skirt pattern for all occasions from every-day casual to special occasion.  We hope you love it as much as we do.

The Meadow Skirt  features a softly-gathered or pleated skirt with just the perfect amount of fullness.  On the skirt front, gathers or pleats are placed between the pockets to reduce fullness over the hips.

The Meadow features a contoured, flat-front waistband with a channeled elastic back for a perfect fit.  Or, choose the stretch knit sensory waistband for an extra-soft, comfortable option - the adult version is tall and can be folded over, while the children's version is a bit narrower.

Both the Adult's and Children's Meadow Skirt includes four versatile length options - everything from a cute above-the-knee style, to an elegant, ground-skimming maxi.

One of our favourite features of the skirt are the beautifully-scooped, deep, very functional pockets.  They're designed them to be large enough to comfortably hold essentials like a phone and keys - and there's room for all the little treasures that seem to find their way into pockets throughout the day.

We've also included a specially-designed pregnancy option with a subtly-scooped front piece and a stretch waistband to accommodate growing bellies.  One tester, whose baby was born during the pattern testing (how exciting!), also found the fit to work well for postpartum wear.

Ties add a lovely extra detail to the adult skirt (not included in the child version) and are a fun option to play with.  Tie them in a bow at the front or back for a special occasion, or leave them hanging loose for a more casual look.

During testing, we found that the Meadow was just calling out for a button front option.  So, we've created a blog post with instructions for creating two styles of button front - decorative or functional.  We love how this simple hack creates yet another look that is both classic and completely on-trend.

The Meadow sews up well in a variety of fabrics.  We love it in a soft, drapey linen or double gauze, but other light fabrics such as chambray or lawn also make a lovely warm-weather skirt.  Silk or chiffon would be stunning for a special occasion.  For cooler weather, wool, needlecord, velveteen, or denim would all work well for a more structured skirt.

The Meadow Skirt is offered in Twig + Tale adult sizes, and children's sizes 12-18 months to 10 years.

Step-by-step video guides are also included.

The layered pdf file allows you to select just the size(s) you would like to print, and includes both US Letter and A4 for home printing, and A0 files for copy shop large format printing.

We look forward to seeing the lovely garments you make with the Children's Meadow Skirt and Adult Meadow Skirt patterns.  Please join us in the Twig + Tale Facebook Group, a friendly place to ask questions, look for inspiration, and share photos of your projects, or tag your skirts #TTmeadowskirt  (formerly#meadowskirt) on Instagram.  We love seeing your beautiful creations!
