Amazing upcycling project

I made the otter from an old woolen skirt of my Mum and it turned out even greater than expected. The whole project took longer than I had anticipated, but that's only because it encouraged me to go all in with the details. This will not be my last hot water bottle cover!

I was also happy to find out that standard bottle size in Germany seems to be the same as in New Zealand 😉

Easy to sew, but looks labor intensive!

I love Twig and Tale patterns. They offer unique things, their directions make stitching them straightforward, and the results look so professional. I made the Owl and Fox hot water bottle covers for my granddaughters birthdays. I’ll be making more, as I have sweet littles (and not so littles) that I know would enjoy curling up with a warm walrus, or penguin, or raccoon….

Great for creative sewing

I have really enjoyed using the pattern to make an ever growing collection of various animal hot water bottle covers. I made a penguin & a cow for my daughters for Christmas and have also made a cat, panda, horse & dog. It is such a versatile pattern & really gives you a base to let your imagination go wild. The Facebook group has also been a great source of inspiration. A well drafted pattern with some very thoughtful options.

Cuddliest polar bear ever

My kids cannot put down their new polar bear hottie 💓 It is the cutest thing ever! I had so much fun finding special knit pieces to upcycle for it. The pattern was amazing! We’ll be making more for certain!

Lovable little critters

I made two owls for my girls and found the process straightforward like all the other Twig and Tale patterns. I used a mix of soft corduroy, flannel, felt, and cotton fleece for extra coziness. Even just the basic front and back pattern pieces were great to use for making a 'grown-up' cover for myself. We had fun picking out the best materials for the face parts and wings - a really nice bonding time with my kids. Thank you!

Love this one!

I have made over 15 of these covers now and I love this pattern to bits! It is so simple and quick to whip up. It's my go-to pattern for birthday gifts and end of year teacher gifts. The end results are always stunning!
