Child's pathfinder vest is fantastic

I made two vests for world book day, in connection with Wizard of Oz, so we had a lion and Toto. The pattern was god to follow, and clear and the results were (even though I say it myself) impressive. I bought the bundle, so next in line for Pathfinders are me, my daughter, my partner and my 96 year old Dad.

Favorite vest around to us for up cycling

I have made a few of these in adult and children’s sizes. It’s fun to add embroidery (like the sweet pea in the picture) or finding fabrics to “up cycle “ so it’s all used made new. I found old curtains from my parents graduate housing the got the fabric for in Kmart in the 70s to use as a lining, old buttons from a yard sale my grandma found in Illinois and an old wool coat no one wanted and made two 5T vests out of the it all! It’s a pretty easy sew up after you have your materials!

Pathfinder vest

I printed out the pattern instructions, so I don't have to keep waking the computer up. I tried to add it to the iPad but it didn't seem to want to open. Anyway, I think it looks quite good for a first attempt. Going to try a crossover vest, size 2, from an old ops hop blanket next.nI love the links for inspiration and all the variations, add ons.

Well explained

The pattern is well done and the instructions were easy to understand. The video explained step by step. I already made two vests.

Great sew but large fit

I made a waistcoat style vest (for my 21 month old grandson), sized down to a size 1 for a closer fit and added the button band as recommended in the instructions. I made it from corduroy with a cotton lining. The instructions were great and the vest went together really well but it was big enough to fit my 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter (both kids are tall for their age and average build). I made another with navy suiting and a cotton lining, without adding the button band and taking a small amount from the width as well and got a good fit. I did cut everything out carefully and used correct seam allowances - whilst I get that you want to have room to grow it seemed big even for that. I don’t feel confident with the sizing for this pattern but loved making it so will make more in the future.

Great little vest

Excellent, easy pattern. The matching instructions were very clear and the finished product is cute, can't wait until my son can try it on.

Love this pattern!

This is my first Pathfinder Vest upcycled from a small baby blanket. The video was extremely helpful! I had fluff all over my sewing room but my 74 yr. old Singer 15-91 sewed through all the bulk with no issues at all. This is a size 9-12 mths. for my newest granddaughter. I'm sure I will be making her lots more over the years as well as some for her parents! thanks for this awesome pattern!
