This sweet, simple little dress has stolen our hearts. Featuring an easy a-line shape and pretty rounded petal-shaped panels that cross over at the front and fasten at the sides.
A truly versatile piece that can be made dress or tunic length, the Petal Wrap is also fully reversible, offering two looks in one. Sew it in lightweight linen or cotton for summer, or cosy wool or corduroy for winter.
Skill level: Beginner
Make old things new again! Twig & Tale patterns pair wonderfully with recycled fabrics. Look to gently used linen garments, corduroy or woollen trousers, and pretty printed cotton dresses for inspiration.

Quick, easy, well finished pattern. Good instructions. Made in light weight wool with cotton lining.
Delightful pattern, as always with Twig and Tale easy to purchase, download and use. I made a size 7 as part of the expansion package in the tunic version. Linen on the outside and organic cotton on the inside. The pattern and instructions are easy to follow - there were a few more steps in the process than I had imagined, but this absolutely made for a much more finished look to the garment. I enjoyed every step and I think I learn something new with every pattern I try.
Thank you Twig and Tale for bringing to life the patterns I had thought about but didn’t think existed 🌿
I love it! Instructions were very clear and I actually just watched the youtube video and I was all set! I will make more dresses for my niece!❤️
As a absolute beginner I was surprised how quickly I managed to finish this Tunic. The instructions were clear and helpful and the pattern just came together so well. I can see me making this again for my nieces and trying different variations.
I can’t believe this pattern is free! It’s the perfect little dress and is so versatile. This is made out of a quilting cotton and quite a heavy denim; the idea being that it can be a little over-dress/apron for nursery. Added a little flap for one of the pockets and the ruffle sleeves. I can’t wait to make more :)
I really enjoyed sewing this fun sweet Petal Tunic! The instructions are well written and the video is very helpful to get you through all the steps. I decided not to put a pocket on so as not to take away from the cats but I will on my next one! The T&T Chat group on FB is great for inspiration and for asking questions. I look forward to making more T&T patterns! Thanks so much for this free pattern to get me started!
So grateful for this free pattern and this lovely little dress. I've made the tunic version (12-18 mo size) and will probably make the full dress in 2 yo size soon. I winged the ruffles because I don't have the other patterns (but would love to try the hoods sometime!). As is, I want to make this for all the babies/toddlers I know and may have to buy the child-size version when they get older! Thank you Twig&Tale!
I’ve made this beautiful petal dress for my granddaughter Daisy , I did as a Tunic top and made some matching shorts . I absolutely love this pattern and plan on doing lots more . I also will purchase the bundle pack . What a versatile amazing little outfit !! Fantastic x
I absolutely love this free pattern! I made the 0-3 month size for my 7 week old granddaughter using upcycled fabrics, and am so pleased with how it turned out. I also love that it's reversible!
I'm new to sewing garments so the instructions and the video were very helpful. I know that I'll be making many more of these as this little one grows up
