Little pixie coat

Oh my gosh, I made two of these for my nieces and they turned out SO STINKING CUTE!!! I love them. They had such great instruction. I am a brand newer sewer (seamstress) and they were wonderful to make. I was also able to use fabric that was in my stash.

Great results!

I made two for Christmas, size 3 for my 2.5 yr and size 4 with size 6 length for my 6 year old (who is really skinny). It was pretty easy to sew. I did not end up using the button strips, I did buttons with loops and I didn't find it necessary. I was worried it might make the fit weird, but it did not. Unfortunately Christmas morning we have had a warm front move through so I barely got them to try them on. Fit is great though.
I used regular quilting cotton type fabric with characters on it for the lining, and upcycled wool from coats for the exterior. I struggled to find a suitable piece for the back piece for the 6 length 4, it required a longer piece. I had no problems with the same piece in the size 3, but I cut the 3 from suit pants and the 4/6 from coats. The coat one was heavier wool than the pants.
I can see myself using this pattern again for many years.

Love this coat!

I really enjoy the process of sewing a Pixie Pea Coat and it’s much easier than you think it will be. The pattern and instructions are fabulous and the fit is great. My 4 year old loves both of his coats and we get lots of compliments when out and about. I can’t recommend this pattern enough.

What a Joy!

I absolutely loved making this pattern. The instructions are clear, concise and thoughtful. I especially loved the suggestions of embroidery and some sustainable resource guides. I also really appreciate the generous range for sizing, our munchkins just grow so fast so I really love it when I can see a pattern grow with my little ones tastes and preferences. I will definitely make this again, and I will definitely be making Twig and Tale again 🌼
