For adventurous outdoor play, these simple, functional overalls keep children dry and comfortable, whatever the weather.  Designed to be pulled on over clothing, Rainhaven Overalls let kids be kids, freely immersing themselves in nature play, with no worries about keeping clothes clean.

The pattern includes optional features such as elastic stirrups to keep pant legs in place, a chest pocket, and knee and seat patches that can be combined to make them your own.

Sew them in waterproof fabric for rainy day adventures, or in a sturdy fabric such as canvas for every-day rough-and-tumble play.

Skill level: adventurous beginner

Make old things new again! Twig & Tale patterns pair wonderfully with upcycled fabrics. Look to large raincoats to upcycle into smaller garments.  Re-use hardware such as buckles, toggles, sliders from old raingear or backpacks.

Great little pattern

Really pleased with my first overalls using soft shell also for the first time. Made some teeny tiny ones for my grand daughter to wear in the Melbourne winter when walking the dog. Very easy pattern with great instructions.

Almost perfect

I loved having a pattern for rain pants for my daughter! She needed some for preschool. The pockets are perfect and the instructions are very detailed and helpful. I did have to hem about 3 extra inches but I think that's just my daughter's small height. However, I think the pant legs are way too wide. I made 3T. They would have been unwearable had I not cut a significant portion off the inseam on the legs. I used fleece backed softshell and we love the result!

rainclothes ready for the flood( or just autumn)

the rainhaven pants were probably one of the easiest sews I ever had even with the finicky business of taping the seams and adding reflective piping to the kneepatches. It was literally done in about three hours... Just in time for a trial of fire ( or flood) as I needed to get to my dance class more or less dry.. I combined them with the forester coat which was probably not the best choice for a rainjacket as the curved princess seams are hard to tape but the result looks good and I am happy ( and dry)

fabulous pattern

I’m so happy with this pattern, I work outside with children and wanted some fun rain gear like them! I’ve made two pairs so far, one with a fleece lining and the other simply faced.

The pattern was easy to print and follow and they fit like a dream! Great range of sizes as well.

We are ready for rain

Beautiful pattern, stunniny project. Easy to follow the steps. Once again Twig and tale pattern didn't disappoint. My 2 years old boy loves it because he can go out even in wet day..

Very happy

I made these overalls for my 12 month olds for playing in the park and garden. The pattern was easy to follow and they turned out exactly as I pictured them. I used PU water resistant fabric and chose the knee and bum patches and I have enough fabric left to make the second set in the reverse colours. The pattern for 12-18 months understandably comes up very big so the girls will have to grow into them - not a problem but something to be aware of if you’re looking for something for a 12 month old.

Excellent and easy

A really easy pattern to make, suitable for beginners. Made in cotton as a pantomime costume and have had requests from friends as are quite fashionable in bright patterns.

Great Waterproof Pants

This pattern was perfect for waterproof pants for my granddaughters. I used PUL fabric and lined the pants with fleece for warmth. The stirrups’ option is great for keeping the pants around the ankles, Thanks for a pattern that will be used again.

I've been eyeing up this pattern...

Ive been eyeing up this pattern since I came across Twig and Tale 😍 i'm still to muster the 'I can do it' energy to try it out though 🙈. I've read through the pattern and the instructions are very clear and easy to understand. The inspiration pictures are fantastic!! I'll update once i've got off my butt and tried it out myself haha

First of many?

The Softshell is perfect for these overalls, so the kids can play outside in winter without getting their clothes filthy. The pattern was simple for me as an experienced sewist, and with plenty of detail the even someone less experienced should be able to make them.
