Upcyling Blog Tour: Day 1

Yesterday, when we announced the tour, we also explained the subtitle of the tour. We challenged our bloggers to add just a little bit of extra "old" into their new garment. We of course were very curious to see what the bloggers would do with that challenge and we were blown away with the creativity for today!

Emily from Nap Time Creations, created a stunning Pixie Pea Coat stuffed with original details. The first, and most obvious one if of course those fringes! Such a super smart move to use the fringed edge of a blanket for this. You also have to check out the inside of the coat to see that super smartly placed original welt pocket and she even managed to use the original belt loops from the pair of pants she used.

Boevenbende upcycled a blanket, a crib canopy and a pair of shoes to make this super cool Pixie Pea coat for her son. I hear you think, shoes...? I had the same thought, Boevenbende also teased us with that information. I was surely intregued and now that I have seen the front, it is obvious, but wow, such a smart idea! Be sure to also check the extra features she added to the pattern!

Shelly from Sew Shelly Sew, upcycled a men’s linen/cotton shirt from a thrift store to make these super cute Pixie pants. To incorporate her "old" detail she slightly adjusted the pattern, and she explains how she did that in her post. This little adjustment would be cool for non-upycles as well, I know I will try it on my next Pixie pants! On top of that she used the Wild Flower Embroidery pattern to make a store bought white shirt unique.

Kelly from Handmade Boy shows that upcyling can not only save you money (because you do not have to buy expensive new fabric fabric) but also time! She made her son a super comfortable but also stylish swim cover while using the Little Red Riding Hood Cape pattern. By using the original hem of a set of beach towels she did not have the hem the hood and even got an special fabric feature as a bonus.

The Barefoot romper release discount period is almost over, just a few more hours remain. Get it on 25% sale with the code "BAREFOOT" while you can.

To celebrate the tour we will also have a give away of four Twig and Tale patterns of your choice! Please enter the rafflecopter to have a chance of winning the pattern bundle.  For a round up of the other participants see the tour overview.
