Cute hats for summer adventures

I downloaded the free pattern some years ago and did not sew the hat until this spring. I bought the add on as I now had two kids who needed a summer hat and the flower add on is so cute. I really love the outcome, the big hat is in use every day and my child loves it, the smaller one looks so cute and is also excepted (the baby does not like hats that much^^)
I downsized the small hat and didn't do it with the bigger one, both was the right decision. I recommend to decide for every size by yourself, depending on the size of the head the hat is for. I did all the extra steps, as it really looks better this way and keeps the seam allowance in its place. And it was the first time I followed the seam allowance exactly, thank you a lot for mentioning it in the pattern :)
I always love your suggestions for upcycling your material. Helps me keeping in mind to use what is already there instead of buying new fabrics! Thanks for the great patterns <3

Sunny Hat ( with add on petal)

I have twin baby great granddaughters, I have made the petal hat, reversible, which had been a great success last year. This year we thought we would put the addon petals & the chin straps!! Much appreciated by their Mum, they make up so easily. I went back into sewing during lockdown, after not having so much as touched a sewing machine for nearly 40 years. These hats were one of the 1st things I made. Oh the joy :) Now I am making all sorts of everything!! Just cut out the scout shorts & Petal top, that's the next project on the go. So pleased. But it has lead me down a rabbit hole..... more materials, newer machines & an over locker, who'd have thought at my age I would be even looking at these things... but getting so much pleasure & giving so much joy. Thank you for your very easy patterns to follow.

Adorable hat

I made this hat for my granddaughter who is 2 years old. She doesn't really enjoy wearing a hat but she put it on and looked in the mirror and gave me a beaming smile and said "thank you nanny"
It is such an easy pattern and I really enjoyed making it, so much nicer than a bucket hat.
She didn't want to take it off so a very happy mummy as well and I have more cut out to sew. Thank you very much for such a lovely free pattern. I made it reversible

Just wonderful!

I have made several bucket hats, but they never provide the fit I need. I have a skin condition that means I must always wear a hat to shade my face, but my large head size (!) has made that difficult. Sunny Hat to the rescue,I managed to make a hat with a great fit, giving me good coverage and is comfortable at the same time. Thank you!

So easy!

I am making my 3rd hat, they are so easy to make and look absolutely beautiful. I have tried making bucket hats before and failed miserably, but these sunny hats are amazingly easy to make.

Lovely hat

I have made 2 hats for my granddaughter and my daughter. They are reversible. A very easy pattern with clear instructions. I can see myself making more of these in the future

Perfect pattern!

I am a reasonably experienced sewer so have used many hat patterns in the past. I didn’t need to fiddle with the pattern at all. Went together perfectly! I will make this hat many times I’m sure. Highly recommend.

Happy sunny summer hats

Made a couple of reversible hats to match the petal wrap dresses I made for my niece’s birthday. Such a lovely sew and turned out really nicely. The instructions are easy to follow and the hat easy to build. Definitely worth topstitching the seams as it gives a lovely professional finish.
Great for using scraps and fat quarters. I’ve cut out pieces for myself from some of the fat quarters I keep collecting and never using! I just need to sew it up now. (Hopefully my lining up of the top will get better with practice!)

Really easy to follow instructions thank you! I've made 3 in total - I've made baby, toddler, small adult and medium so far! I made a couple of them reversible too. Two hats in one! :)

Great little hat!

I can't wait to make this cute little hat for my newest granddaughter! The instructions are very clear and the video is really helpful if you are a visual learner. I will be making many for her and will get the flower add on to change it up a bit. If you are a new sewer you can ask questions and get lots of help from this group. It's a quick pattern and great for mixing and matching fabric scraps!
