Super useful

We started wearing it at 7 weeks of age and our baby boy was perfectly fine with it! The brim was wide enough to keep the sunrays off which was GREAT! This hat is made out of light-weight linen. Going to make another one for this coming summer. THANK YOU!!

Great Liitle Hat!

I am a relative newby to sewing but found this so easy to make. Great instructions and borrowed a few ideas from the photos here. Very proud of my cute little hats. Thank you!

Nice basic hat pattern

Really loved this pattern. Instructions come in written (with photos) and also video form. So simple to put together and in such a wide range of sizes.

I didn't have interfacing so I used some scrap calico instead. The brim still holds its shape pretty well. I will be making more of these in different sizes as my son grows into them!

One of several

I have made several Twig and Tale patterns in my process of learning how to tailor clothing. Coming from a background of boat canvas, I'm having to learn a lot of new skills. Instead of cutting fabric with a hot knife, basting with spray adhesive and staples, and winding 15 bobbins so I can run a 40 foot zigzag seam without stopping, and never worrying if the stitch is a 1/4 inch off, now I am learning to cut out patterns and then cut the cloth precisely, using fabric weights, mini-clips and (shudder) pins, and running precise 3/8 inch seam allowances. Some of the instructions, I start off thinking, "there's no way that could work", but I follow them on faith, and at the end find myself amazed at the beautiful result.

The photo shows my grandson wearing my most recent Sunny Hat. He loves it and wears it any time we go out hiking. I made it a little big so he should be able to wear it for a while. One thing I will say, take measurements and trust them. I was skeptical that this 5 year old needed a Child XL, but it worked out fine. His 8 year old brother will get a size Adult S. Admittedly, they both have really big heads, just like their daddy.

Great pattern, and nice of you to make it available for free, so nobody has an excuse not to try it.
