Beautiful cloak pattern, easy to follow

The pattern instructions are pretty detailed and flexible allowing for multiple options. The instructions are clear and easy to follow generally, although it did help that I wasn't a total beginner: there wasn't much detail about how to stitch the inner lining closed at the end. I did a slipstitch by hand - it mentioned closing by machine but I'm not sure how you would do that without having an ugly visible stitch. The cape design is really solid and having the two buttons in the front (instead of just one) helps it to not slide back onto the neck, and it sits beautifully on the shoulders. It was a pleasure to make this cloak, and my 4 year old loves it! (And looks so cute in it). I love that it has a lining, and overall it feels like it will last a long time (and fit him for a good long while!). Very happy with it, and will make another one shortly for my other child (and more to come!)

A beautiful project to make, well received

I loved making this project for a friend's 2-year old, and it was very well received.
I followed the pattern instructions exactly except for attaching the strap loops with hand sewing rather than having a line of stitching on the 'good' side. the recommended interfacing (Pellon 809) worked really well. I do wonder if the straps would be long enough for an older child, but for a slim 2 year old they were fine.

A whim that panned out

I was immediately attracted to this garment, but I knew I wouldn't wear it. My best friend's eyes lit up when I said i was contemplating making this. So... As an experienced quilter, and a novice garment maker, I had difficulties with fashioning the pocket opening on one side only. Otherwise, I give this a solid 2 thumbs up and would make more if there was a demand.

So many options to personalize!

I loved making this pattern because of the very clear instructions, which included photographs to show each step visually. The pattern included options for two different hoods or a collar and no hood, and instructions for doing loops and buttons/toggles, or buttons and buttonholes. It also showed photos of the various ways other people have sewn up the coat for inspiration. It didn't take long to sew up, and it turned out so cute!

Repurposed Dad’s Old Coveralls

I used my husband’s old coveralls that he used to wear to work. I decided to use contrasting thread so you could clearly see what was original to the coveralls and what is newly stitched. I even sewed his old name tag on the inside of the pocket. I used the chest pockets on the coveralls for the seat patches so there’s now pockets on the back of the rainhavens as well. They’re not water proof, but they can get dirty and no one will care. I made them gender neutral so they can be hand-me-downs.

The pattern was great and they sewed up quick! I hope to make another pair with cuter fabric. And I’ll have to get the adult version for myself!!
