made it easy to learn!

I'm new to sewing so I was a little overwhelmed by the amount of content provided in the pattern, but it was wonderful. I had a great time and I learned so many new things. The instructions are clear and detailed, I loved having a printable summary and used it just as suggested, and the pattern variations were so much fun. I did have an experienced person help me as well, but that was mostly to talk through ideas.

Details of my project:
I made the quilted/puffer version, size f, with a fair number of customizations. For context, I had quilted some wool to use for a cute boxy sweatshirt pattern only to realize that it was absolutely not going to be cute and instead would just be a box. So this stiff quilted fabric was repurposed as a Trailblazer Vest that I love! I wanted it to be somewhat cropped because of the stiff fabric, so adjustments were made.

Customizations: I slimmed down the vest a little extra by narrowing the side pieces at the side seam. I shortened the pieces at the bottom instead of at the suggested spot to reduce the curvature a bit, I felt that would be more appropriate for the cropped look. I added a ribbed collar to the top instead of fabric, mostly because I was attached to the rib collar from the original sweatershirt plan. And, finally, I finished the hem and armholes with "bias tape" made of leftover (unquilted) wool.

Epoch tie pocket.

A great pattern. Only tried one of the designs so far. I made them from waterproof canvas as gardening pockets to stop me loosing secateurs & string in the back of the border. It works a treat for the job.

Beautiful cloak pattern, easy to follow

The pattern instructions are pretty detailed and flexible allowing for multiple options. The instructions are clear and easy to follow generally, although it did help that I wasn't a total beginner: there wasn't much detail about how to stitch the inner lining closed at the end. I did a slipstitch by hand - it mentioned closing by machine but I'm not sure how you would do that without having an ugly visible stitch. The cape design is really solid and having the two buttons in the front (instead of just one) helps it to not slide back onto the neck, and it sits beautifully on the shoulders. It was a pleasure to make this cloak, and my 4 year old loves it! (And looks so cute in it). I love that it has a lining, and overall it feels like it will last a long time (and fit him for a good long while!). Very happy with it, and will make another one shortly for my other child (and more to come!)

A beautiful project to make, well received

I loved making this project for a friend's 2-year old, and it was very well received.
I followed the pattern instructions exactly except for attaching the strap loops with hand sewing rather than having a line of stitching on the 'good' side. the recommended interfacing (Pellon 809) worked really well. I do wonder if the straps would be long enough for an older child, but for a slim 2 year old they were fine.
