Finished Fedora Measurements

Note: final ease around the band will vary depending on materials used: ie the thicker and more structured the fabrication, the less ease you will experience.
Fabric Requirements
The following fabric requirements are for both the Exterior and Interfacing.
You may need more if matching plaids/checks or if you have a directional fabric.

You will also need the following amounts of Lining fabric and Batting/Wadding.
- Lining - All Widths: 1/2 yard (25cm)
-
Batting/Wadding - 150cm/59" Wide: 1/2 yard (30cm) for a medium weight fedora
Suggested Fabrics
- Medium Weight Exterior: Quilting cotton, wool suiting, linen
- Heavyweight Exterior: Denim, wool coating, 1-2mm wool felt, jacquard, faux suede, waxed cotton
- Lining: Quilting cotton, satin, silk - consider breathable natural fibres which are somewhat slippery
Interfacing:
- Heavyweight fusible interfacing, Formfuse 1600f, Pellon 809, Vlieseline Decovil Light or equivalent
- Heavyweight sew-in interfacing (non-fusible). If you cannot source sew-in interfacing, use fusible and just don't fuse it
Batting/Wadding (for medium weight exterior option only):
- 1/4" - 3/4" (5mm-15mm) lightweight synthetic or natural fibre batting. For dense batting/wadding, the narrowest thickness is recommended. 1/8" (2mm-3mm) spacer fabric or bra foam will also work well.
