Pixie Hat - Size Chart + Materials List

Size Chart + Finished Measurements

If child measures exactly to a size - for example the child has a 19.5” (M) head measurement, I would recommended sewing the next size of 20.5” (L).  If using thicker fabrics such as fur or sherpa and the child’s head measurement sits at the upper range of the size you are making, you may need to size up.

Fabric Requirements

I use recycled wool sweaters to make these hats, but if purchasing fabric you will need less than 1/2 yd (20-35cm) of 43" (110cm) wide fabric.  You will need this amount for both the lining and the exterior fabric.  This may be enough to make more than one hat, depending on the size.

Suggested Fabrics

Exterior:  One old sweater!  I love to use upcycled woolen sweaters which have been felted (slightly shrunk so the fibres have bonded together).  Notes on how to felt a sweater are below.  Otherwise use any soft, warm fabric for the exterior.

Lining: Cotton, soft linen, flannelette, or other soft, breathable fabric.
