At Twig + Tale, we believe that stories are woven into every stitch of a handmade item - the materials, the time and place, the maker and recipient are all linked together.  In a world of mass production and fast fashion, the decision to prioritise making by hand is in itself a story.  We would love to hear yours!  

 

 

What is the Storytellers Team? 

The Storytellers are a diverse, international community of creatives, brought together by a shared love of sewing. As a Storyteller, you will have the opportunity to sew, photograph, and share your experiences using Twig + Tale patterns. It's a wonderful opportunity to explore, push yourself creatively, and share the joy of sewing in a welcoming and supportive community.

How will it work?

The Storytellers Team will be hosted in Twig + Tale's private community, away from the hustle and bustle of social media.  Each month, we will explore open-ended themes and reflect on how they relate to our creative lives and our values.  

The 2026 T+T Storytellers Team will run from March to November, a 9 month commitment. 

Participants will be asked to:

• Sew 4 Twig + Tale projects of their choice over the 9 month period, allowing plenty of time to plan, enjoy some slow sewing, and document the process in a thoughtful way.
• Share your projects on social media.  We are hoping to hear about your experiences and reflections along the way, as much as the final projects. Note that you must have at least one public social media account to be considered.
• Be an active participant in both the online sewing community generally, and also in the private Twig + Tale Treehouse community.
  

Participants will enjoy:

• Access to the entire Twig + Tale pattern library.
• Access to all new patterns released during the 2026 Storytellers contract, including priority access to Sew + Show opportunities for new patterns.
  
• Participation in T+T's private community - take part in group discussions, share your love of sewing, and build connections with other participants.
• Exposure of sewing, photography, and writing across T+T platforms.

Additional paid opportunities:

• For those who love to write and share longer content - there is an optional, paid opportunity to submit in-depth, themed content to be featured monthly on the T+T blog. Have a look at past Storyteller articles here. 
  
  

How to Apply

Applications for the 2026 Storytellers have now closed

Please note that you must have at least one public social media account that features photos of your sewing projects in order to be considered. This is so that we can see samples of your work when you apply, and also because sharing your projects with a wider audience is part of the Storytellers agreement.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse sewing community. If you are interested in helping us improve our cultural competency and have an opportunity to represent, we would especially like to hear from you.

Depending on the volume of applications, it may take us a while to go through all of them.  We will read and respond to every application by 24th February NZT. If you don't see an email in your inbox, please be sure to check your spam folder.
