Suggested Fabrics
This pattern requires fabric with a good amount of drape to avoid a stiff looking garment in the skirt, but thick enough to avoid a transparent garment.
Summer options include: lightweight linen, rayon, silk, seersucker, Tencel, chambray. Double gauze, voile, georgette, lawn, and muslins can be used but will need to be lined to add some support and reduce sheerness.
Winter options include: chambray, wool, soft corduroy, thinner velvet.
Lining options include: cotton poplin, voile, lawn, and other lightweight breathable wovens.
Other Supplies & Notions
- Spool of coordinating thread
- Up to 24" (60cm) of light to medium-weight interfacing to stabilise the facings. Non-woven and knit types are both suitable, but knit will be more durable.
- 5 buttons or sets of snaps
- Optional: 1/3" (9mm) wide bias binding (or make your own). Up to 5.2yd (4.7m) for faced version, or 58" (1.45m) for lined version.
- Optional: Up to 16" (40cm) of 3/4" (2cm) wide elastic
Fabric Requirement Chart
You may need more if matching plaids/checks or if you have a directional fabric. The fabric requirements are for a short or 3/4 sleeve - for a full-length sleeve, add the amount from the bottom chart. If sewing a lined version you will need an additional 20" (50cm) of fabric for lining the bodice.
