Easy-to-make and versatile, this pattern uses less than a metre/yard of fabric, keeps them toasty warm and is more likely to stay on little heads too!

Skill level: Beginner - Adventurous beginner (animals with manes are a little more work)
- 3 neck style options: Scarf, Cowl + Cross-over
- 14 animal options: Fox, Unicorn, Lion, Bear, Bunny, Dino, Cat, Mouse, Giraffe, Zebra, Horse, Donkey, Ladybird and Puppy
- Options for pockets and "paws" on the scarf ends
Sizing + Supplies
The Animal Hooded Scarf + Tails includes sizes 3-5 years, 5-8 years, 8-12 years and teen/adult.
Make old things new again! Twig & Tale patterns pair wonderfully with recycled fabrics. Look to soft sweaters, woollen blankets, gently used corduroy trousers and leather/suede garments for inspiration.
Printing Info
This is a print-at-home PDF pattern and includes three printing options:
- US Letter/A4 - tiled and designed to print on your home printer
- Copyshop - A0 wide-format file (33.1″ x 46.8″)

Another great versatile pattern. I have already made three hoods and I'm sure I shall be making more. The pattern itself is pretty simple, but the different options mean no two need ever be the same. With the usual clear instructions it was a joy to make.
I had so much fun with this pattern creating four different hooded scarves. The instructions are clearly written and the patterns are true to size which is so important to a maker. I made mine from scraps of Cuddle® Minky fabric and they are so soft and warm and just bring joy to the little ones. Everyone loved these.
Like the other Twig & Tale patterns I’ve used, the instructions were clearly written and easy to follow. I’m an “adventurous beginner” and had no trouble making the horse version. Special section on the mane and ears was perfect.

Beautifully put together instructions with lots of ideas and options to really let your imagination run wild! I especially love the prompts to use recycled fabrics which I try to do anyway. This was my first twig and tale make and I'm already planning my next. It was clear and easy to follow, I managed a couple of these over a few naptimes with two small kids (will share on IG when I get round to photographing)
I saw this and knew it would be perfect for our family Halloween costume, and to wear all winter. Not disappointed at all. Love this!
What a fun pattern! I found this pattern easy to follow and found all of the added tips helpful. I also really liked the suggested fabric and inspiration features on the pattern.
