How to make an Adult Driftwood Maxi Dress

With a simple modification to the skirt of the Adult Driftwood Dress pattern, you can make a stunning maxi dress - perfect for gathering wildflowers, tea parties with your children, or whenever you would like to feel a little bit fancy.

You can also use the adaptive Button Front Add-on, to make a stunning, everyday nursing-friendly maxi.

The only pattern modification necessary for the Driftwood Maxi Dress is to the skirt pattern piece.

Simply look up the size you are making in the following table, for the dimensions you will need for your maxi length skirt piece.  You will need to cut 2 pieces.

Skirts in sizes "I" and larger will need to be rotated 90 degrees from the grain if cutting from a 44" wide fabric.

This dreamy pattern calls for a lightweight fabric with an excellent drape.

Some people may find that shortening the bodice a little, therefore raising the elastic a little higher, will help the skirt to skim over the tummy area.

Sew your dress as outlined in the pattern tutorial.
