Harbor Top

This is my Harbor Top in size 3 that will be sent to our Great grand daughter. I used upcycled fabric that was once a duvet cover that's early life was a duvet cover! Love this shirt! Almira Parady

Sweet & simple

My first Twig & Tale Pattern - made for & with my 10year old granddaughter while visiting in Singapore. Like the style. It went together well. Online patterns appeal to me and good range with sizes and variations available.

Dress up or down

This pattern is fairly easy but I had to learn a new collar style. The kid likes it. I’ll be making several more.

Gender neutral woven pattern!

It’s a bit of a unicorn to find a pattern that is gender neutral and uses woven fabric. I don’t tend to sew woven for my boys (one in particular is really hard on shorts and trousers), but this pattern has changed this. It’s been a great addition to my pattern library and one that I can use for all my children, which makes it incredibly useful and good value.

As you expect with Twig + Tale patterns, the tutorial is amazing and it guides you to make a beautiful top. I’d never made a facing before, but the tutorial guides you and it’s a great way to learn new techniques as a self taught sewist.

The top looks great on its own, but it also works wonderfully with the Petal dress.

Great basic top

Loved sewing this top for my daughter. The sewing process was easy and enjoyable. The instructions are great. The size is perfect. I blended size 6’s height with size 4’s width following the blending guide on instructions to get the perfect fit for my daughter’s measurements. Can’t wait to try the other options.

Wish there was an adult version

Out of the box, this pattern is well-drafted with great instructions. Love how quickly and easily it came together, with a nifty facing trick that looks so good.

The sizing is accurate to my child's height, and thoughtful enough to accommodate any growth spurts while still looking effortless. It's roomy enough for active kids to not feel restricted, yet drapes well without being shapeless.

I sewed my first version for summer and play, but it resembles traditional festive wear in my home country (for Malaysians - baju kurung/baju Kedah - or even baju Melayu for the boys) that I'm planning more versions in batik for celebrations of heritage. Looking forward to trying out that v-notch neckline!

Best top ever!

This top is the best summer shirt ever. A comfortable shape, light and airy to wear.
I love that it's character changes with the fabric you select, but I must say I am loving it in the African fabrics.

Beautiful workhorse pattern

The Harbour Top is a lovely beginner sew with potentially some skill builders and plenty of pictures. Sizing seems pretty accurate with plenty of room to play. I made mine with chambray and lawn from my stash. This is easily made with a yard of fabric if carefully arranged and cut. I made mine both short sleeve with a rounded neck but it comes with a notched neckline and several sleeve options! I look forward to making more and experimenting with other fabrics.

So versatile

I love the versatility of the Harbour top as it can be adapted for something more special and formal, to a casual afternoon at the beach. I loved making my daughter a version in some special Liberty cotton lawn for end of summer/start of autumn and I can tell I will need to make some warmer versions for winter and cooler days.

Great for summer

True to size, easy to get on/off, good ease for movement, with room to grow so it should see my children through the season. I used a light cotton for summer. V-notch but just regular sleeves without the tabs. There are one or two fiddly bits (upskill opportunity!), but it's not too difficult, just take your time around the neckline. Instructions and photos are clear. Pairs lovely with the Scout Shorts.
