I made both the women's forester and the men's forester at the same time. Such a nice pattern and works up beautifully.

    Just what I wanted

I've been looking for a pattern like this for a while so I'm glad I came across the Forrester. I've not had a chance to make it yet but hope to be able to do so soon.

    I love it!

This pattern is written so well with so much detail, it was a pleasure to put together a coat that I'm so happy with and proud to wear :) the drafting is also spot on, you've set the bar high for independent PDF pattern drafters!

    Very good

The directions were really good, I made my first adult coat with this pattern and it turned out pretty good I would say!

    Loved the Forester Coat!

Loved this pattern! Super simple to follow and the end result looked great! The mini videos i the pattern were a great help when I was stuck.

The only bit I got stuck in was step 39 as my collar piece was a bit small and found I had to stretch it slightly. I also realised I only needed to do the outer collar, as the lining collar would be sewn later on.

I was in between sizes so sized up and it was a bit big, but was easy to sew another seam allowance to the loose areas as needed (I’m usually a rtw size 14-16 and made size j). It sits big enough that I could wear a top and jumper underneath comfortably. I found the recommended zipper for size j (70cm) too long, but a 66cm one was perfect.

If doing again, I would add light interfacing to the collar as I found it sagging in some areas (that could be the material I used though - wool blend suiting). I found the hood a bit tight too, so would probably size up if next time (but I do have a big head haha).

I added toggles to mine as I love the look of toggles, but all fastening options instructions are easy to follow.

I found the custom fit instructions and size blending options interesting and will try them next time (I was a bit intimidated to try these the first time).
