Traveller Cape

Size Chart + Materials List

The simple magic of the Traveller Cape Pattern is its simplicity; slip it on for warmth getting to and fro, and watch them transform into whomever their heart desires.

Before she takes the throne in a land of enchantment, before he sets off into the woods with his band of knights, they don a cape and stand tall, heads held high towards the clouds.

Easy to make and easy to wear, it indulges kids' fairytale-esque ways.  Everything from cloak length Star Wars costumes, Red Riding Hood capes and Elsa & Anna caplets to an everyday alternative to a coat, this pattern does it all.

Nothing makes a child's imagination soar quite like a cape...

Quick and simple

Another wonderful pattern from twig and tale. So easy to follow with great step by step instructions. I made a reversible capelet version as winter has just ended here and it is super cute. Next year I plan to make the longer classic version.
I added ties, instead of buttons so that it was easier being a reversible capelet.
There are so many different options in the one pattern, which is something I really like about twigandtale patterns. Other than how simply they layout the instructions.

Lovely quick sew

I adore this pattern as it’s a super quick sew and the result is wonderful! I add interfacing as using snaps but other than that I followed to the t and very happy with the result.

I love this pattern.

Bought specifically for a special request by a family member. I loved how easy it was to sew and get a professional finish. I'm planning my next twig and tale project, and if this pattern is anything to go by it'll be equally lovely to make.

LOVE the traveller cape

The pattern is so easy and turns out so gorgeous! I've done one from an old wool blanket and can't wait to do one with pom poms around the hood :)

Suggested Fabrics / Notions

Exterior: I like to use wool blends, but most woven fabrics with a reasonable drape will work well, including fleece and WindPro fleece. Lightweight cottons or linen could be used for a spring or summer cape. Waterproof fabric could be used to make a rain cape.
Lining: I like to use cotton, linen or other breathable fabric.

Notions:

Fabric Requirements for Capelet & Classic Length

You will need the amounts listed in the chart below (44” or 115cm wide fabric) for both lining fabric and exterior fabric.
You may need slightly more if matching plaids/checks or have a directional fabric.
These amounts do not take shrinkage into consideration.
