    My New Favorite Skirt

Super easy sew for this beginner and turned out even better than I hoped giving me a much needed win in the completed garments category. The waistband is definitely the highlight for me—having that flat front keeps it looking put-together, while the elastic back means it’s super comfortable. It has the perfect amount of swish without drowning in extra fabric, and deep pockets are non-negotiable in my wardrobe anyway. As always, Twig + Tale nailed the instructions. I’m already planning my next one. Pictured here with my scenic top.

    Great Pattern, Cute Skirt!

Very clear pattern and I love the video tutorials to help you with any tricky bits! I am getting back into sewing and I would rank my skill as intermediate beginner and I was able to complete the skirt with no frustration as the pattern is very well written!

When I make my next skirt, I would add a couple inches to the knee length size as the fullness in the back seems to cause the skirt to be just a little shorter than I want (I am 5'4" for reference and did the pleat front/ full back/ no tie option in madras cotton). I would also maybe take in about 1 inch in the back. Overall a very cute skirt and once you get going it's very fun and fast to complete.

    Thank you!

    Childs meadow skirt

I haven’t had time to make this yet but a quick preview looks like just a square. Next week when school is back in session I was going to pursue this pattern. I really like the buttons up the front look and in the adult pattern I’m not seeing how to do that. I will have more time next week to figure things out but advice/suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. And maybe this isn’t the appropriate venue for these comments. I’ve had other patterns fron you all and they’ve been great.

Hello Barbara, and thank you for sharing your thoughts! While the Meadow Skirt is relatively simple in its gathered-rectangle style, it's a classic, easy-to-sew and -wear option that many love as an approachable garment to sew. Of course, the pattern includes all the other pattern pieces you need as well - the pocket bags, separate flat-front waistband, etc.

As noted in the tutorial, the button-front option is a hack included on the T+T blog - you can always find it by looking for 'Meadow Skirt' in the drop-down menu, or I'll link it here for your convenience: https://www.twigandtale.com/blogs/twig-and-tale-blog/how-to-add-a-button-front-to-the-meadow-skirt

If you ever have questions about pattern options, use, or anything else, you may feel free to reach out to us any time at support@twigandtale.com - we're always happy to help!

    Amazing Pattern

I love this skirt pattern. I've made 9 in various lengths, sizes, and styles in the 2 weeks since I bought the pattern. Each one is beautiful and comfy.

    Great pattern

I was looking for a skirt like this and posted in a sewing group on FB. Someone mentioned this pattern. I bought it and make the skirt! It is a very well thought out pattern with very clear instructions. I have been sewing a while and wasn't sure about the order of sewing, but it came out just great and it made perfect sense. The video was helpful and the written instructions very detailed. What I really liked was they had a 3 page instruction that you could print out that took you through the construction. You could always refer back to the detailed instructions or video for more clarification. The pattern was really made for every level of sewer. The sizes were accurate and it fit well

    Fantastic skirt pattern!

Loved making this skirt! I made the gathered version. The directions were very clear, and the accompanying photos were helpful. I love how deep the pockets are. The only thing I'll do differently the next time I make it is not to sew the gathers on the front until I'm attaching the waistband. It was probably a lack of experience on my end, but the skirt front wound up being a little wider than the waistband after fixing the gathers in place, so I had to pin in some extra gathers when attaching the two. Easy fix, and now I know to leave myself some flexibility next time!

    Highly Recommend

I have made this skirt three times now (one mock up, two wearable) and it is WONDERFUL. The skirt I made from medium weight linen has turned out the best and I plan on making more. If you’re worried it might be too hard: Ive only ever done quilting and some misc small projects like a zippered bag and the instructions are clear and very well explained. You can make this! I am so excited to make my own clothes, something I never thought I would finally do. Amazing pattern!

    Just the most perfect skirt

If you have any doubts about sewing the skirt as a beginner, there’s no need. The Meadow Skirt is the perfect skirt for any beginner skirt. The instructions are clear and comprehensive. I’m going to be sewing many more Meadow skirts in different lengths and fabrics for a lovely transitional garment.

    A quick and easy sew!!

Not only does this pattern come with lots of options, whether it's the waistbands or length of the skirt, this pattern has it all in a easy to make pattern! I made the Maxi length version with the basic elastic waistband, and it turned out beautifully. I highly recommend this pattern for anyone who is starting out sewing skirts.
