Digital Pattern Skirt Hike Sewing Pattern - Adult
A creative accessory for long skirts or dresses, skirt hikes are used to lift and gather skirts to keep the hem off the ground. They also happen to add plenty of ruched, layered drama, perfect for creating storybook-inspired looks.
From cottagecore dreams of wafting around wildflower meadows, to swashbuckling pireatecore ensebles, skirt hikes are a simple way to add a playful touch to your wardrobe.
Compatibility: Add them to any outfit with a long skirt - they can be threaded onto a belt or sewn right into the waistband. Try them with the Lorien Lace-up Skirt or the Meadow Skirt.
Skill Level: Beginner
Tutorial: Comprehensive written and photographed instructions are included. Includes bonus tips for sewing skirt hikes from leather.

Inseam or Belt Loop:
Note that the Skirt Hike pattern is for the skirt hikes only. You will need a dress or skirt to add them onto.
Size Chart
Three hike lengths are included: inseam for sewing into a garment, and two belt widths - 1 1/2" (38mm) and 3" (75mm).
The width of the hardware you choose will determine the width of your hike. The pattern includes 1" (25mm) or 1 1/2" (38mm) finished widths.
Supplies
Suggested Fabrics:
Non-stretch, medium to heavyweight woven fabrics, such as quilting cotton, drill, chambray, denim, suiting, linen, cotton, corduroy, flannel, canvas, etc.
Fabric Requirements:
Scraps! The skirt hikes are small, so you will probably be able to use leftover fabric from another project.
If purchasing fabric to sew the hikes, you will need up to 1/4 yard (25cm) of 43" (110cm) wide fabric for the longest length hikes.
If making skirt hikes from leather, choose a light to medium weight leather, omit the long side seam allowances when cutting the straps and cut only one per skirt hike.
Hardware:
1" (25mm) or 1 1/2" (38mm) D-rings, metal rings, bar slides or jaw/suspender clips.
