This is a PDF pattern and includes three printing options:
All pattern printing formats include “layers”, allowing you to print only the size(s) you need, or all of the sizes. A comprehensive sewing instruction tutorial is supplied.
This is a great pattern for a cute vest! There are many different design options to satisfy your needs. The directions are very clear. While there are several options to print the pattern, I wish they also offered a physical thin paper version. It took me quite a while to print, tape, and cut out the pattern pieces. That is my only constructive comment. Everything else was great!
This was a really fun pattern and a great opportunity for a matching mother child set since there is such a big size range. I made this one for my grandson and a matching one for his mom. They enjoyed wearing them over the Christmas holidays. I’d definitely recommend patterns made by this company. They are very clear and easy to follow. Happy sewing!
I frequently download digital patterns, and have had mixed results with others. Sometimes directions are unclear, or there are no video tutorials, or illustrations are missing or misleading. NOT with the T&T Trailblazer vest! I wanted to make one as a gift for my husband, and when he opened it at Christmas his jaw dropped. The classy final product — because of the beautiful details and tutorial support — looked so professional. I got requests from several family members for additional vests!
I wanted it to be warm enough for fall/winter outerwear in the Midwest. So I used a wool blanket as the main fabric, quilted in two different patterns with multiple layers of fusible fleece. The lining is made of coordinating plaid flannel. I used antique brass snaps for front storm flap closure, and a matching metal zipper.
True confession: The only stumbling block I ran into was that I shortened the fit by 2 inches, which meant the zipper ended up too long for the vest. To make up the difference, I added a matching band to top and bottom edge. I actually really like the end result. Serendipity.
I can't wait to make one for myself now. Thank you for a truly quality pattern experience -- and for all the additional inspiration and ideas on this blog!
I made a slightly puffy version for my dad for Christmas and it came out even better than I was hoping. I did size up 1 size because I added fusible fleece to the lining side, and it was a perfect fit. I made the straight hem version with a zipper and no wind flap and didn't make any adjustments to the pattern. The instructions were so detailed, so easy to follow even for myself as an adventurous beginner.
This is a really great pattern. The instructions are clear and detailed and the pattern has a nice fit and good looking details. I did make one change to instructions, which was to add the wind flap prior to adding the lining since I preferred not to sew onto the lining from the outside. I look forward to making more Twig and Tale patterns in the future.
Excellent pattern and great fit. Directions were clear. Professional look when finished. I made the vest out of softshell with a quilted lining. I added reflective trim to the main seams. The only modification I made was to move the lining opening to an inner side seam. I’ll be making more for my other grandchildren.
I'm fairly new to sewing but trying to learn and this was a good pattern for my level. The instructions - but in written form and complemented by the videos - were a big help. I also did the inner pocket from the extra, bonus instructions. I like that you recommend fabrics also - that was very helpful. I went with a Sherpa lining from your suggestion :)
This is the second adult Trailblazer that I've made this year and they have me wondering why I waited so long to make this garment.
They are the perfect layering piece. The zip front and high collar keep you warm and cosy whilst being sleeveless means no bulky coat.
It is a wonderful blank canvas, I added extra internal pockets to this make.
Brilliant, easy to follow instructions with useful videos
The instructions and the pattern were great and I love the result - I used an African cotton fabric to makes this waistcoat. The only thing which I really missed were fully opened pattern pieces for the projector file, mainly for the center back piece. Especially if you make a puffer vest, you cannot cut on the fold. I solved the problem by cutting the lining first and then using the lining piece as example for the cut of the puffer center back piece. But this possibility wasn't described in the instructions and would not have been necessary with a full projector file in which pieces are usually presented opened when they need to be cut on fold and mirrored when they need to be cut twice.
I used this pattern to make my son’s hockey jersey’s into vests. It worked great the sizes were spot on! I loved how it had all the various options!
I made it twice with the first one being his childhood jerseys and then went to the NHL jersey. Perfect results both times!
