Great Pattern

I used this pattern to make my son’s hockey jersey’s into vests. It worked great the sizes were spot on! I loved how it had all the various options!

I made it twice with the first one being his childhood jerseys and then went to the NHL jersey. Perfect results both times!

Quick sew and clear directions

My sister requested a reflective gilet (vest) to wear when she’s out running in the dark. She will be a trail “blazer” in this, it reflects even without car headlights on it! Can’t wait to make more of this pattern in a variety of fabrics.

Trailblazer Vest for my husband (straight hem, no collar, optional inside pocket)

This is the first pattern I have purchased from Twig + Tale. I am 100% impressed. Print at home PDF went together just perfect. I like having the option to drill down to just one size. The instructions were spot on - this is the first lined garment I have sewn that I didn't have great difficulty with the lining. This one came out really nice without any frustrations. The outer is fleece and lining flannel. I put in the optional inside pocket which my husband thought was awesome. Love the way it was sewn in. This pocket left a perfect place for me to put my handmade label on. Size measurements were really good - I picked the correct size the first time. I also really appreciate the inspiring ideas within the pattern. I can't wait to make the next one!

Vest completed

Experienced leather maker but just getting into garment sewing. The pattern was straight forward and easy to follow. Any questions I had were quickly solved by an email response. Great pattern and great vest, I already have another in the making and plan on several more for Christmas presents. I used magnetic snaps for closing the wind guard.

Lovely Vest - Just right in every way

Easy to understand, easy to adjust, and lovely when made. I made this for my 'chap' and he loves it. Calls it his 'best' gilet now. Made with quilted cotton and polar fleece.
Thank you.
PS: I'm a relatively new 'sewist' just in case newbies are thinking of making this like I did x

Gift for my oldest brother

I finished making the Trailblazer Vest yesterday. This was by far the hardest thing I’ve sewn; not because the pattern was too complicated, but because of all the alterations I had to do. My brother is 5’ 5”, with a very large stomach due to a hernia. I originally ordered the men’s vest but the height discrepancy was too big. I ended up ordering the women’s version, too, because the height was the best for him, and combined the two. Hence, the difficulty. I reworked the patterns 4 times and made two toiles. I am a very slow sewer, so it took me much longer than it should’ve, but it also made me put on my thinking cap. The end result was great and he is very happy with it.

Finally getting around to it

I just started making the Trailblazer vest. The pattern is easy to follow and am enjoying sewing it.

Comprehensive instructions

After a lot of research I decided on this vest pattern given its fit and style (not boxy like so many others out there). Plus it has a lot of scope for personal customisation.
Really impressed with the very detailed instructions, the pro tips and personalised fitting details. I did not add the wind flap, as I was very proud of my zipper insertion.
For the wind flap I would add the following:-
*make sure the.pockets are pulled put of the way as you might sew thru them
*I would add some interfacing on the button side (ironed on the wrong side prior to attaching the lining) for extra support.
Next make will have the wind flap and buttons, and probably a hood. True to size for me, no need for any adjustment.

The most versatile vest

I love Twig and Tale patterns because they are always true to size - an important factor that so many pattern companies get wrong, because they have great details, without overly complicating the construction process, and because very piece is so versatile. I chose the option of adding batting to the shell of this vest to give it a little “puff” and style. I added some inside pockets so it can be used as a weighted vest without calling attention to itself as anything other than a stylish really cool kids vest. The new owner is super happy
