How to Make a Driftwood Vintage Dress

Reminiscent of little girls' dresses from the 1940's and 1950's, the Driftwood Vintage Dress features a sweet, above-the-knee length.  Pair it with some pantaloons for a classic warm-weather look, or over tights for cooler days.

The only pattern modification necessary for the Driftwood Vintage Dress is to the skirt pattern piece.

Simply look up the size you are making in the following table, then subtract the dimension listed from the length of the skirt pattern piece:

 Size Prem. NB 0-3 3-6 6-9 9-12 12-18 18-24

Amount to subtract (cm)

5.2cm 5.6cm 6.0cm 6.3cm 6.7cm 7.0cm 7.5cm 8.5cm
Amount to subtract (inches) 2" 2.2" 2.4" 2.5" 2.6" 2.75" 3" 3.3"

Size 3 4 5 6 7 8 10
 Amount to subtract (cm) 9.0cm 9.5cm 10.5cm 11.0cm 11.5cm 12.0cm 12.5cm
Amount to subtract (inches) 3.5" 3.7" 4.1" 4.3" 4.5" 4.7" 4.9"

Draw a line across your pattern piece to mark the Vintage Dress length, and fold.

Cut out your pattern and sew as directed in the pattern instructions.
