    Lovely to sew and wear!

I've made a few Fable dresses now for myself, and finally got around to purchasing the child pattern for my daughter. This first one is to match a dress of mine. The main dress is a brown needlecord, with a squirrel patterned needlecord for accent pieces (culled from an oddly shaped Boden dress I bought at a charity shop years ago). I lined the bodice and made the inseam pockets with a quilting weight cotton. The dress is a little stiffer and thicker in this fabric, but it's still comfy to wear and the squirrels are a big hit! My daughter chose the buttons from my jar, and they match the acorns pretty well!

    Inclusive! Great for beginners

While I generally know my way around a sewing machine, I've never actually sewn a garment from a pattern. I was intimidated. Not only because of the learning curve but because I have an unusual body to fit. I'm a small fat (18-20 US) and had a unilateral mastectomy without reconstruction. With no experience on how to alter a pattern to fit, I took to the web to research how to adjust patterns for an asymmetric torso.

When researching for post-mastectomy clothing, there is so little information for half-flat silhouettes. Generally it is assumed that a person is either flat on both sides or they will have reconstruction. Of course, I have a prosthetic, but I don't like wearing it. Plus, if I'm going to make a dress, I want it to fit *me*

Imagine my surprise and delight to find Twig and Tale. The patterns I need, not only included in the price, but included in the initial download. I nearly cried. The size range is impressive and the ability to use layers to print only the size you need was really great.

Not only that, but the website is an absolute treasure trove of information for a novice sewer. I am making this dress for a costume and do not need the button placket. Was expecting to have to figure it out myself, but the tutorial is already on the website.

I am so grateful to have found my way to your shop. Thank you for helping me feel that my body is a good body like everyone else. Thank you for using clear language and including video tutorials which really help with my ADHD. Thank you for you encouragement to use upcycled materials (I'm using silk from thrifted pajama pants!) Thank you for being welcoming to new sewers.

I haven't finished my dress yet (just cut it out of the "good" fabric) but I know it's going to turn out beautifully thanks to your help.

    Great pattern

I am a new sewer - this was my first time following a pattern for an adult garment. It was very easy to follow, and turned out so nice! I like that it can be made to look like a totally different dress by adjusting the length and the sleeve add-on options.

Couldn’t resist making a couple in flannel

Got a request for warm winter dresses. Flannel Fable to the rescue. Flamingoes are lined with bemberg, and Lemons lined in bamboo. These were really happy sews, and my Grand loves wearing them!

Fable dress for girls is an easy sew

Absolutly love this pattern! Such a lovely easy pattern to follow, the instructions were clear and easy to follow, making it a very satisfying sew. I sewed a fully lined version with long sleeves and the construction comes together beautifully. The ease of creating such a lovely dress is impressive, considering I am sewing thirty of these dresses for an upcoming festival and am only an intermediate sewer.

    Favorite pattern

I bought this pattern forever ago and made a girls version for my daughter but when I finally sewed one for myself I fell in love! The bodice fit is perfect, the cut is so flattering, and it goes together easily. I made two out of kaufman essex linen for every day and now I am making a fancier one out of cotton lawn. I predict I will use this pattern many times.

    Fun to see!

Even though the Fable dress was a little complicated, the pattern instructions were so clear and intuitive that it was very satisfying to sew. And the results were super. I made two dresses, sizes 3 and 8, for two granddaughters, usung contrasting fabrics for the facings and optional gathered pockets.

    Cascade blouse delightful

Cascade blouse is an easy and flowy overblouse. It is fairly simple to sew-no fussy darts or tailored details. There are channels for elastic or ties that provide shape. The most difficult aspect for our beginner sewists was the narrow hem around all the edges. Four people made Cascade blouse in our sewing group and they were all incredibly proud of their projects.

    Lots of options

I’ve made this pattern 3 times now, with different sleeves each time (most recently with a sleeve add-on pattern). The first time I shortened the bodice and that was a mistake (even though I usually shorten T&T patterns). The second was my first foray into lace I got on sale (pictured). My third was my Eater dress (also pictured). I’m sure I’ll make more; there are so many variations one can try.
