Casual shorts for easygoing adventures, the Cove Shorts are a wardrobe staple for relaxed summer days.
Enjoy an easy fit, comfortable elastic waistband, optional ties for extra security, and generously-sized pockets. Choose from two lengths: above knee (skims the top of the knee) or below knee (hemmed at the top of the calf).
Sew them in a variety of midweight woven fabrics, such as breezy linen or chambray.

Finding plus size patterns for men can be so difficult. This one was recommended to me and I am so glad I tried it. This is my first Twig & Tale pattern and I am very impressed with the clear instructions plus there is also a video tutorial as well as blog posts for common alterations like how to pick a size if worn under the belly. Other than that I didn't have to make any alterations for him. I have made 2 pairs for him already (one in twill and one in moderate stretch denim) which turned out great and I'm sure I'll be making more. With all the available supports I think this would be a good beginner pattern. 100% recommend giving this one a try
This pattern came together so well, it even stood up to my pattern printing snafus (oops). The finished shorts are tidy and the fit is spot-on for comfort and movement! I used cotton chambray and twill tape for the ties.
I made this in a drapey linen and it was a very easy sew. Great fit and clear instructions.
First time making shorts and I enjoyed the pattern. My husband had a smaller waist than hip measurement and we size graded using elastic like the pattern suggests. I find the fit to be generously loose and I'll likely go with just the waist measurement next time. Hike tested and husband approved!
Clear written instructions incl pictures, I'm a fan of the video instructions so it is easy to follow. In combination with the Kea pockets, you can make a cargo version.

I am new to sewing but found this pattern and the tutorial so easy to follow. I used thrifted cotton and added bellow pockets to the side with snap closures. My husband is thrilled, as am I. Yes, that is my husband being silly when I requested he model them. Now to start the second pair …….
They are without a doubt the most comfortable shorts my husband has ever worn, he doesn't take them off, he just washes them and puts them on again.
